Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that comes from our body. It is a fundamental structural component of the skin and is involved in the processes of collagen and elastin synthesis. In addition, it has water retention functions, providing hydration and volume to the skin.

The passage of time and aging processes cause a quantitative reduction of this molecule, due to its reduced capacity for renewal. As a result, the face loses the fat that gives it volume and the skin loses elasticity, wrinkles appear giving an “aged” look.

In aesthetic medicine, facial filler with hyaluronic acidis an excellent ally to improve, without surgery, all these losses.

With our facial harmonization treatments with hyaluronic acid, our plastic surgeons will be able to eliminate dark circles, outline lips, give volume, rejuvenate the face and even stimulate skin regeneration, among many other benefits.

The cheekbones are one of the main aesthetic elements of the middle third of the face, being voluminous and defined during youth. The aging process entails a lack of volume, both due to the loss of the fatty compartments that provide support, as well as the flaccidity of the skin and subcutaneous cell tissue.

The restructuring and volumization of the cheekbones with hyaluronic acid is one of the most important elements in the facial harmonization of the middle third. As a result, a younger, more harmonious appearance is achieved and, secondarily, it helps to correct the presence of dark circles.

The search for a more outlined and voluminous lip makes this treatment the most common of those performed with hyaluronic acid. Its objective is to gain volume in very thin lips, outline the shape of lips that have lost their natural contour or simply to hydrate them.

Based on the effect to be achieved, the treatment can be carried out with different densities of hyaluronic acid, resulting in fuller, more defined and hydrated lips.

The nasolabial folds, like the labial commissures or marionette lines, are natural furrows that are gradually accentuated by various factors. Among them, the continuous facial expression, the loss of volume of facial fat and the increase in flaccidity of the tissues, both superficial and deep.

Its correction with hyaluronic acid aims to restore the volume lost in said grooves, visually correcting them and giving a younger appearance.

The mandibular line and angle play a fundamental role in the aesthetics of the lower facial third. Its well-defined shape expresses a strong and masculine face in men, while in women a rounded and smooth profile confers an elegant and young appearance.

The definition of the lines and angles is adapted to each patient, based on their anatomy, sex and facial ethnic characteristics. This treatment is regularly combined with others that harmonize the middle and upper third of the face, thus achieving a full face treatment.

The chin is the central element in the symmetry of the lower third. Its size and projection define the facial length and the harmony of the facial thirds, as well as the general masculine and feminine aesthetics.

Mentoplasty with hyaluronic acid is a treatment that serves not only to harmonize the length of the lower facial third, but also to correct mild or moderate asymmetries in chins with retraction or little projection.

In addition, it is currently an excellent tool to avoid surgery in many cases, being able to do the treatment in consultation, immediately and with maximum comfort. It is common for it to be combined with other volumizing treatments, being a key element in facial harmonization.

The upper third of the face has elements that lose volume with aging and tend to appear empty (temporal fossa) or slightly droop (tail of the eyebrow).

The replacement of lost volume with hyaluronic acid produces an antiaging effect, as well as the elevation of the tail of the eyebrow.

The aging of the perioral area occurs in various ways, the main ones being the loss of volume and profile of the lips, but also the appearance of fine and small perioral expression lines secondary to the movement of the orbicularis muscle of the lips, these wrinkles are commonly called Barcode.

Its treatment consists of the subtle application of hyaluronic acid, filling these fine lines of expression, profiling and hydrating at the same time, recovering the harmonic and anatomical lines of the lips.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

After assessing the case and clarifying possible doubts from the patient, the treatment is carried out, which usually lasts between 20-40 minutes, depending on the areas treated.

The results are immediate, even so, the definitive and optimal one will be appreciated after two weeks. A recovery of volume will be obtained that will give balance and facial harmony with a greater definition of the facial contour and profile, correcting possible asymmetries. In addition, we manage to delay the signs of aging, preventing flaccidity and reducing wrinkles thanks to the redensification of the skin.

The duration of the effects ranges from approximately 6 to 18 months. This will depend on the type of Hyaluronic injected and some external factors such as sports practice.

Dynamic areas and static areas are distinguished on the face. When we replace volumes or make corrections, depending on the treated area, more “compact” and long-lasting hyaluronic acids are used (such as on cheekbones, chin, jaw angle) or “less dense” and rapidly absorbed (such as on lips and cheeks).

It is recommended to avoid taking NSAIDs (anticoagulant and anti-inflammatory drugs) such as ibuprofen or aspirin, during the week prior to treatment. In case of allergies, active herpes or other diseases, the patient should consult with the doctor if the treatment can be carried out or it is better to postpone it.

In general it is advisable to schedule an appointment three weeks in advance of the event. If a small bruise from the needle appears, it usually lasts three to seven days.

It is advisable not to touch or manipulate the treated area, as well as to avoid any type of sport during the 72 hours after the procedure. It is also advisable to avoid dental treatments, protect yourself from sunlight (SPF 50+) and extreme temperatures (sauna, thermal treatments or freezing weather) for the next 48-72 hours. In the event of a bruise, continue to use sun protection.

The facial harmonization treatment with hyaluronic acid can be combined with vitamins, PRP and botulinum toxin (depending on the areas) among other treatments, without any inconvenience. In case you want to undergo other treatments, it is recommended to consult with the professional.

The infiltration of the product can be done with a needle or cannula, under local anesthesia or by applying anesthetic creams, making the procedure painless or slightly uncomfortable. Even so, hyaluronic acid contains an anesthetic that reduces post-treatment discomfort.

Depending on the technique, local anesthesia can be applied. Likewise, the same product that is infiltrated is composed of an anesthetic to make the procedure less annoying.

Yes, it can be applied at any time of the year, as long as the specialist’s recommendations are followed.

There have been no conclusive studies in pregnant or lactating women to indicate that they can undergo such treatment. However, our recommendation, if possible, is to postpone it for another time.
