Double chin liposuction is a surgery that consists of reducing or eliminating the double chin completely, by aspirating the fat located under the contour of the jaw. The intervention usually lasts between 45′ and 1 hour.
There are enzymes and products that can be injected to eliminate double chin without surgery, but the results are not entirely satisfactory.
The scars with a double chin lipo are imperceptible and hidden to the maximum. What’s more, the scars are getting smaller and less invasive, we try to make them look as little as possible and, if necessary, improve them with laser and other equipment.
The intervention is ambulatory and is performed with local anesthesia and sedation for greater patient comfort. The procedure is performed in a protected and sterile environment such as an operating room.
A blood test and an electrocardiogram will be needed. In addition, in specific cases such as angiomas, additional tests will be needed.
Before a double chin liposuction intervention, it is recommended not to smoke or take medications that can alter blood coagulation (some pain relievers or natural products). In patients who usually take anticoagulants, the doctor will indicate the suspension.
As a general rule, you should fast for at least 6-7 hours before surgery. You should also avoid wearing metal in direct contact with the body (earrings, chains, rings, etc.) and it is recommended to go with a clean face, without makeup or nail polish.
Recovery is very fast. The inflammation and bruises, which can come out, will disappear in a few days. In the same way, during the first days of the chin liposuction postoperative period, it will be necessary to use a chin guard that will help put pressure on the area. In addition, the application of cold (Hilotherapy) will reduce recovery times and inflammation, also reducing the use of painkillers.
The postoperative period is not painful but discomfort may appear, which depending on the degree of sensitivity of the patient will be greater or lesser. To help these discomforts, analgesics and anti-inflammatories will be prescribed, as well as applying a cold therapy (Hilotherapy).
Tobacco, alcohol and medication that may promote bleeding should be avoided for a period of 48 hours after the procedure. Also protect yourself from sunlight (SPF 50+) and extreme temperatures (sauna or thermal treatments or freezing weather) for the next 48-72 hours. In the same way, one week after the intervention, specific creams will be applied and lymphatic drainage will be performed to improve the results and speed up recovery.
Bearing in mind that people who undergo this type of surgery are normally healthy patients, the risks are minimal and reversible. However, it must be taken into account that whenever there is a wound there is the possibility of it becoming infected, so it will be necessary to take preventive measures to avoid contamination of the incisions.
It is best to sleep on your back, keeping your head higher than the chest, at least for the first few days after the operation.
The compression garment or chin guard must be worn at least 20 hours a day during the first 4-5 days after surgery. The following 15 days should only be used at night.
Usually the patient can return to his daily routine and train 4 days after the intervention, depending on the type of work and the intensity of the physical activity.
The result will generally be appreciated from the second or third week after the intervention, once the bruising and swelling have disappeared. Even so, the final results can take up to two months after surgery.
The results are definitive, as long as the patient does not gain weight considerably. However, they can be affected by secondary pathologies such as thyroid or other systemic pathologies. In addition, with the passage of time flaccidity may appear, which is why we recommend specific care in the area.
